Happy Palm Sunday!

On Palm Sunday 1966 I walked the aisle of Sunny Vale General Baptist Church in Malden, Missouri, knelt and prayed asking Jesus to forgive my sins and come into my heart. The altar was crowded that morning, but I remember the feeling of joy and I knew no matter how crowded the altar - Jesus heard my prayers, the prayers of a 9 year old little girl. May I always have the simple faith of that little girl! And I pray I always answer when Jesus calls me. I am willing to go where He leads me. May God bless you with a joyful and triumphant Palm Sunday!

Mark 11:1-11
The Triumphal Entry
1As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, 2saying to them, "Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. 3If anyone asks you, 'Why are you doing this?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.' "
4They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, 5some people standing there asked, "What are you doing, untying that colt?" 6They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. 7When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, he sat on it. 8Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. 9Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted,
"Hosanna![a]"
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!"[b]
10"Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David!"
"Hosanna in the highest!"

11Jesus entered Jerusalem and went to the temple. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, he went out to Bethany with the Twelve.

Honor the Lord

Proverbs 3:9-10
"Honor the Lord with your wealth
and with the best part of everything you produce.
Then he will fill your barns with grain,
and your vats will overflow with good wine."

I am enjoying reading the Bible every day with the goal of completely reading the Bible through in 2010. Although I have read the Bible through in a year and a half-I really want to stick to the plan this year. I have looked at all the things crammed into my schedule and decided some things need to go for me to meet that goal. I want to "Honor the Lord" with all that I do-my prayer life, church activities,Bible study, my family and my career. Speaking of my career, things are going great, I had a wonderful planning meeting today with my boss. We have lots of exciting growth opportunities in 2010. I am so thankful for so many things, but having a job I love and working for a growing company that actully helps people is a wonderful blessing that amazes me everyday.

The picture is our team from Eye Care Associates that participated in the Walk for Diabetes Sept 09-just one example our spirit of giving back.

everyday life

I did have a great night's sleep Monday night and a really busy week!
So glad to be home! Unfortunately my car engine light came on late last night-ugh! But at least I was able to make it home safe and sound. I try not to worry about things of everyday life troubles, like what will we eat or what will we wear, but it is disturbing when you depend on your car to get you back and forth to work to have car trouble. So when reading my daily Bible reading today imagine how happy I was to find Matthew 6-it was exactly what I needed. So here it is for you to be encouraged by

Matthew 6:25“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing?26Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are?27Can all your worries add a single moment to your life?
28“And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing,29yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are.30And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?
31“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’32These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs.33Seek the Kingdom of God.

I would appreciate your prayers that my car repairs will be covered under warranty when I take it in on Monday. Thanks so much!

Sleep in peace.

Psalm 4:8 "In peace I will lie down and sleep,
for you alone, O Lord, will keep me safe."

I really need a restful night's sleep tonight. I thank God in advance for the restful night's sleep! Rest from all the busy-ness of my days, so I can be ready for the busy day ahead of me tomorrow.

Thank You God :)

Day 3
Gensis 5-Enoch lived in close fellowship with God for another 300 years, and he had other sons and daughters. Enoch lived 365 years, walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, because God took him.
Gensis 6-Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God.

How did these men "walk in close fellowship with God"? I bet it was by more that just praying for God to give them things, yes I imagine their prayer lives involved listening to God a lot too! Seems much of my time is spent dwelling on what me and mine need or want in this life-selfish huh? What does God want of me? I am listening...

knowledge

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge,
but fools despise wisdom and discipline." from Proverbs 1

Day 2 of reading the Bible through in 2010. It will take discipline to complete this goal! But through it all I will gain knowledge as God speaks to me.
